Welcome to the Greater Manchester & District CND website.

We have a new and expanded website under construction, please bear with us while we get it up and running.

CND has been working for a nuclear free future since 1958, and remains one of the largest membership organisations in the country. We campaign non-violently to rid the world of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction and to create genuine security for future generations.

Greater Manchester CND organises meetings, events, demonstrations, petitions, leafleting etc. We also produce a bi-monthly newsletter, "Nuclear Alert" and email a weekly What's On guide to our email contact list. To join the list send an email with the subject "Subscribe" to gmdcnd@gn.apc.org. To subscribe to the newsletter, send a cheque for £6 to GM D CND at the address below.

We do not have a formal membership, as we act as an umbrella group, supporting 8 local CND and peace groups. GM & D CND plays an active role in Greater Manchester Stop The War Coalition and we also have strong links with other regional peace groups and anti-war groups.

We run a tiny office with one member of staff, and several volunteers. Our office is in Bridge 5 Mill, Manchester's greenest building.

This website is not intended to be a comprehensive catalogue of all our information, activities and resources. If you would like more information about CND or any of our campaigns, please get in touch with the office at the address to the left.

We are currently recruiting volunteer staff for Glastonbury and the Big Chill and Green Man Festivals. We run a property lock-up service at the events - it's easy work and in the dry, you'll get a free ticket, the benefits of crew camping and a reet warm glow. To apply, download and return the application form with all the supporting materials. The final two pages of each application form give you some information about the event. Should you have any more queries don't hesitate to get in touch.
